Wicker is a natural material that has been used for furniture for centuries. Made of bamboo, rattan, reed, or willow, it’s one of the most versatile of the natural materials.
A man-made version of wicker offers durability and weather-resistance in addition to flexibility and versatility. It’s one of the best materials for commercial outdoor lounge furniture, which is why we use it in so many of our collections—including our highly popular Cosmic and Mirabella collections.
In addition to its resistance to water, wind, snow, heat, cold, and bugs, it’s also resistant to a variety of chemical solvents. You can clean the furniture without worrying about the detergent or furniture polish will eat away at the synthetic wicker. Synthetic wicker is also an excellent material to use outdoors, thanks to its resistance to fading under direct sunlight (a common problem with natural wicker).
Not only can it withstand higher temperatures than other types of synthetic wicker (up to 230 F), but it is more immune to cold (it won’t become brittle or crack when exposed to very low temperatures). Our polyethylene has higher crystallinity than polypropylene, increasing its density and hardness. All our furniture is made using High-Density Polyethylene. The wicker has just enough elasticity to flex under heavier users without sagging or breaking.
It is more lightweight, but without sacrificing its hardness or strength. For commercial patio furniture or commercial lounge furniture, it offers a lightweight solution that is flexible and portable, yet also hardy.
That’s right, our synthetic wicker furniture is made out of polyethylene, a material that is eco-friendly and can be recycled. In fact, all of our synthetic wickers are made from recycled polyethylene—making them a very “green” product.
When it comes to furniture, we’re always looking for a way to meld durability with versatility. With our High-Density Polyethylene wicker, we’ve done just that. Not only does our furniture offer superior comfort and style, but we guarantee a longer lifespan. Our synthetic wicker is able to handle a good deal of daily use, exposure to sunlight and heat, cold temperatures, and the other wear and tear sustained by commercial outdoor furniture.
